A large share of Apple Valley's housing is attached — townhomes and condominiums built from the 1980s through the early 2000s — and their kitchens have a particular shape that works in the homeowner's favor here.

The door count is genuinely lower.

A galley or L-shaped kitchen with no island frequently runs 16 to 24 doors and drawer fronts against 30 to 40 in a comparable detached house. Since this work is priced per door, the whole project lands meaningfully lower.

The kitchen is a larger share of what you see.

On an open main level, the cabinetry is visible from the living area, the dining area and the entry all at once. Changing it changes the whole floor, not one room — which is not true in a house with a closed kitchen.

It is the one improvement that does not touch anything governed.

Access is planned rather than improvised.

One entry, sometimes an outdoor stair, sometimes a shared hallway. Where things sit and how they come in gets agreed at the walkthrough.

Blocking prevention

And the doors go back once the finish is properly ready, not once it feels dry. Rehanging early is how a coating blocks — sticks to the frame and tears when opened — and it is the single most common way an otherwise good cabinet job is spoiled.
