Chanhassen developed one planned neighborhood at a time rather than in a single wave — Laredo Lane from 1975, Near Mountain from 1979, Chanhassen Hills from 1985, Lake Susan Hills from 1987, Trotters Ridge and Springfield from 1993, and a great deal since. That layering is unusually helpful here, because ceiling texture went out of standard practice partway through it.

Texture Hides Things, and Removing It Finds Them

Ceiling texture was popular partly because it hid the drywall work beneath it, so taking it off reveals whatever the original crew left. That is normal, and on a written quote it should be visible rather than discovered.
