There is nothing to hold a heavy edge.

A raised-panel door has a profile, a bevel and an inside corner where coating pools and where a sprayed finish can build unevenly. A slab is one plane. It takes a coat at a consistent film thickness across its whole face, which is exactly what produces the smooth, level sprayed enamel finish people want from cabinet refinishing.

With no profile to catch the eye, the finish itself is the entire visual.
